What we collect
When you sign in with Google we store your email, display name, and profile picture. When you identify a plant we store the photo you submit, the AI's identification, and a timestamp, linked to your account.
How we use it
Your photos and metadata are used only to provide the service — running the identification through the AI provider, displaying your saved gallery, and improving usability. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
AI processing
Submitted photos are forwarded to Google's Gemini API for identification. Once processed, the AI response is stored in our database alongside the photo. Google's data-handling terms apply to that processing step.
Storage and retention
Data is stored in our managed MongoDB cluster. You can delete any saved plant from Plants Identified at any time, which removes it permanently. To delete your account and all data, sign out and email us (address in Terms).
Cookies
We use one cookie — session_token — to keep you signed in. It is HTTP-only, secure, and expires after 7 days.
Children
This service is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
Your rights
You can view, export, or delete your data at any time. Email us to make a request.
